NSP nació en 2001 a partir de la visión de Bruce "Buzz" Hansen, un surfista de toda la vida, skater y todo un waterman. Mientras trabajaba en Maui como shaper de tablas de surf, Buzz tuvo una idea sobre la producción de tablas de surf asequibles, versátiles, duraderas y de gran rendimiento.
